The Price of Presence: The Buzz of Constant Whispers

Hello, my loves.

In my world, attention is the ultimate currency. But there is a very fine line between the sweet, thrilling warmth of desired attention, and the exhausting weight of a digital shadow that refuses to fade.

You might remember how I mentioned NorfolkFunSeeker—or NFS, as many of you know him on the forums. He was always there to defend me, a digital knight ready to step in when the forum drama of UKPunting got a bit too loud. It was sweet, initially. A comforting presence in a sometimes chaotic online arena.

But soon, that presence began to spill over.

The stress of constant digital presence

It started with simple messages. A friendly check-in here, a quick comment there. But slowly, the notifications became a relentless rhythm in my day. He wasn’t writing to book an experience, darling. No, it was always “just to chat.” A constant stream of messages asking to hang out, to grab a coffee, to share a casual moment—completely detached from my business.

I don’t think people realize the silent toll this constant pinging takes. Every buzz of my phone demands a piece of my mind, a sliver of my energy. When you are constantly answering messages that lead nowhere, the stress accumulates. It becomes a distraction, pulling me away from the clients who respect my time and my work. I found myself losing focus, feeling drained, and inevitably, missing out on real bookings. The lines between my professional space and my personal peace were blurring, and it was costing me.

I tried to keep my distance, to set boundaries with soft smiles and slow replies. But the pinging never stopped.

With my departure from the UK drawing closer and my plans to return to the warm embrace of Brazil finalizing, I wanted to resolve the tension. So, I decided to make a compromise. I agreed to meet him socially, just for a single, quiet drink, hoping that bringing him face-to-face would demystify the fantasy and calm the relentless messages.

Unfortunately, darling, it didn’t help. The virtual noise continued just as loudly.

But as the days wound down, I had to be pragmatic. He was still a lucrative client, eager to book and willing to spend. Since I was leaving the country soon anyway, I decided to simply tolerate the toll of the constant pinging. If I had to endure the stress, I might as well turn it to my advantage and maximize my earnings from him before my departure. Sometimes, when a situation is exhausting, the best response is to make sure it pays well.
